This year has made me rethink many of my previous decisions. From the begining of the year and even before I ever came into this school, I was all for going into culinary arts to persue a career as a pastry chef. Nowadays I've had to change my way of thinking not only from want but to also think about the bulk of my future. Culinary arts to me, was everything I wanted and I was basically only attracted to it because I like decorating and making pastries. I love the art of food and the whole science behind it. That was my passion and I still love it.

Although I have a passion for the very art of culinary, it has dropped from my favorite to only my second favorite for various reasons. I had to do some in depth decisions towards a career choice. I realized that going into this career once I graduated would not be the best for me. I new that I would be working long hours not getting sufficient pay, at least to my standards, and if I wanted to get that pay I'd have to be the best to really get somewhere. After shadowing the the culinary arts class at my school along with going to the tech night preparations, I found that the class is quite boring, and I already know as a person, I can't not do anything for long periods of time. I didn't like the fact that much of the class was standing around, which was tiring although i wasn't really doing anything. Also, my interests are basically only in Garde Manje, decorating, and baking. I didn't really want to concern myself with all the other stuff i would be learning in that class.

My first choice in the end, came out to be programming, with a teacher that I already knew. I tried the class out twice and it was nice because I was already with Mr. Laverde and I knew he was cool and easy to deal with, other then some of the super sarcastic older teachers in culinary. At first I thought going into that class I would be bored out of my mind due to sitting in front of a computer all day not being able to really work my brain. I thought I would have to do things as complicated as rhino. I honestly thought me mind would end up being dormant, but i still wanted to try it out. after all, I wanted to make sure i was making the right choice, not only for my future but for me.

Upon arrival to the programming class it was a bit unnerving to learn there was only one girl there, but that was something I could deal with. it was a down to earth environment and I learned some of the up sides to being in that class. I would be bale to download certain things that couldn't be downloaded on other computers. There was more of a freedom in his class, but what really got me was they were working on. Mr. Leverde had the other kids and I get a taste of visual basic. I was actually having to use my mind to think about how to take care of a certain situation. it involved figuring ways to get what I want done. I was able to use my imagination, which I believe is one of the most important things, in making a game. I actually was able to do something. I like the way Mr. Laverde taught and I was able to follow along. I made my choice and I was confident with it too. I'm sticking with programming.
